TL;DR
- Developed by the University of Cartagena and University of Valle, funded by the National Royalties System.
- Combines Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) technology, and automated analysis.
- Features a public web application (beta version) displaying a map of northern Bolívar with water quality monitoring stations.
- Technological equipment includes IoT sensors providing real-time data on pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and temperature.
- Includes a GIS system with AI for accessing current status, historical data, and predictions of water body conditions.
- Devices are solar-powered with wireless data transmission for continuous operation.
- The system is designed for scalability, low cost, autonomy, and future integration of specialized sensors.
- Results were formally presented to the Environmental Public Establishment of Cartagena.
- Aims to strengthen environmental monitoring, conservation programs, impact assessments, and environmental education, especially in rural or hard-to-access areas.
- Focuses on consolidating technological infrastructure, expanding monitoring nodes, calibrating sensors, and integrating the database with the public web platform.
- Will include training for allied entities and local communities to ensure social appropriation and long-term sustainability.
- Plans to articulate with regional environmental management programs and the national water information network.
