TL;DR
- The U.S. intercepted a third oil tanker near Venezuela on December 21st.
- A Panamanian-flagged tanker, the M/T Centuries, was seized, allegedly for trafficking sanctioned Venezuelan crude oil.
- Washington calls this part of Venezuela's "ghost fleet" used to finance the Maduro regime.
- The U.S. previously seized the sanctioned tanker Skipper on December 10th, 2025.
- President Trump ordered a total blockade on sanctioned oil tankers entering or leaving the country.
- The U.S. is conducting a military campaign against drug trafficking in the region, destroying suspected drug-related boats and killing crew members.
